Integrating GPS-guided munitions with avionics software is quite a challenge. CAST GPS/INS simulation systems are tackling navigation challenges for integration of munitions such as:

• ERGM - Extended Range Guided Munition
• JDAM Smart Weapons
• SLAM-ER Missile
• TACMS - Tactical Missile System
• Tomahawk Missile
• Trident ICBM Missile

CAST recently demonstrated the capability to perform dynamic ground testing of GPS/INS guided munitions including Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM). The CAST system provides coordinated GPS and Inertial data to the weapon's navigation systems simultaneously with the launch platform's navigation system.

Each weapon or avionics OFP version change requires a retest of the JDAM relevant software pre-flight test. Critical JDAM issues are being discovered and resolved through consistent use of the simulator.
